Added DWM 380-382. I was without an Internet connection for a while. FYI, if you're thinking of going with Virgin ADSL, beware that the service is slow during peak hours, there is a download cap, and although there's no contract there is a £50 fee if you leave within a year. None of which you will be told when you order it.

Altered the homepage to display better in low resolutions.
Added DWM 378 & 379

Fixed the index page so that it displays correctly in Internet Explorer, although the image rollovers don't seem to work. Firefox is clever enough to do it properly.

Added an Entropy powered search facility. It's pretty rudimentary, but seems to work fairly well. I recommend navigation via the various categories, but the search may help if you get stuck.
Removed all those dreadful thumbnail images for the TV Stories. A legacy from my "I've just got Photoshop - let's try all the filters" days. I'll miss the one for Castrovalva though...

Big news! The site is now relaunched with it's own proper domain name - www.doctorwhoindex.co.uk - for the first time in a couple of years. Some slight adjustments to the home page have been made, with lots more to follow. The "New Series" category has been removed, and the info absorbed into the relevant sections of the site.

I've just (sort of) completed a mammoth update after a long period of neglect. All regular issues of DWM now added, as well as the Season 1 & 2 Specials. One of the many things that has struck me is how different the production style of the new series is to the old. Gone are the clearly defined job roles we were used to - set designer, costume designer etc. Who'd have thought Doctor Who would ever have a Concept Artist?
It's been a bit of a problem assigning categories to some of these people, since the structure of the site was originally based on the old style of doing things. I've done my best for now, and have broadly used common sense (never a strong point of mine admittedly - that's why I work for the Council). I shall probably look at a better method of dealing with personnel at some point.

You may have noticed that the "New Series" category hasn't had anything added to it lately. This was added to the site back when there was very little New Series coverage in the magazine. As the focus of DWM has naturally shifted, it seemed silly to compartmentalise this way. It is, after all, the same show. As with the old series, I have decided not to include news stories in the index, unless they are particularly major stories.

Which reminds me, a quick clarification. For the purposes of this site, I refer to the new "Season 1" as "Season 27". Not strictly correct, but helps avoid confusion. Or perhaps create it. I may change this to NS1, NS2 etc.

So what else is in the pipeline? Well, I'm intending to compliment the "Archive Quickfinder" with similar lists for interviews and major serialised articles (eg "Adventures in Time and Space", "Scheduled for Sucess"). I've also started to sort out the fiction section in line with the strips. Also I'm continually reorganising and improving various pages to make them more user friendly and nicer to look at. You see, this all started as a simple exercise to learn some basic HTML and Photoshop. Consequently the basic structure was flawed and the design was frankly crap. The legacy of that still shows I think. It'll take time, but I'll get there..

Anyway, enjoy the site, let me know what you think, and as always - Happy Times and Places!

What isn't included
If you feel strongly that any of these should be included then please let me know.
I do intend to include GG and opinion columns at some point, probably as separate features.
I will not be covering Doctor Who Adventures. From what I've seen it's an insult to kids everywhere - give them something to read!
In Their Own Words special editions
Gallifrey Guardian (some exceptions)
Matrix Data Bank
Cartoons
Opinion columns (The Watcher, Fluid Links etc)
Jackie Jenkins
Some reviews of spin-off material (it's a bit hit-and-miss at the moment, generally if it features a character or race from the TV series, it's in. So no Benny Summerfield I'm afraid).

About Me and Doctor Who
Most of Andy's early memories are Doctor Who related, the earliest being watching "Carnival of Monsters" aged 3 (although in his mind the Drashigs were more like giant worms and made a weird chanting noise).
He was also convinced that Dalek plungers were actually gearsticks, and that Dr Who had a magic finger (see "Planet of the Spiders" for proof!).
The very first piece of work he did in primary school was to draw a picture of a Dalek, even though he's been told to draw his house. His favourite Monday task at school was to write about what he did at the weekend. This would always be "on Saturday I watched Doctor Who and it was very good", accompanied by a lovely crayon drawing. When it wasn't on it would usually be "on Saturday I read a book about Doctor Who", accompanied by a lovely crayon drawing of something from the book (usually a Sea Devil for some reason).
The only childhood injury he ever received was due to using a pumice stone to remove some felt-tip from the back of his hand, after trying to recreate the effect of being infected by a Krynoid pod. Serious grazing ensued.
"Doctor Who and the Revenge of the Cybermen" was the first Target book he read. He read the first paragraph aloud in the shop to prove to his parents that it wasn't too grown up for him. Consequently he was thrilled when the story was chosen as the first DW video. He still loves it, despite what everyone else says.
At the Marvel Comics Film & Fantasy Convention , the ten year old Andy and his cousin decided to attend a talk by Terrance Dicks, instead of the one by Caroline Munro in the next room. This is something he has always regretted. To make up for it, DWM printed a picture of him listening to Dick Mills in issue 48 (he's blond and wearing a multicoloured scarf - in black and white). A photo of him looking very bored in front of a crowd of people at the same convention was also featured in Starburst magazine, probably in the same issue as lots of photos of Caroline Munro in a wetsuit, just to rub it in.
On getting the first issue of Doctor Who Weekly, he dutifully cut out the William Hartnell Star Profile, then immediately wished he hadn't. Weeks of oddly disproportionate heartbreak ensued, until a lifesaving back-issues offer saved the day.
His cousin won a pile of DW stuff from Saturday Superstore, and he kindly gave him that big pile of junk that Adric made in "Keeper of Traken". A cherished and well-loved possession, it eventually paid the rent.
With his Super-8 cine camera his parents gave him for getting a place in the Grammar school, he made a number of DW films including "DW and the Vampire" and "Revenge of the Autons". Roping into service his best friend, his sister, and his obligatory DW scarf that was quite long when he was ten, he revealed that the TARDIS now looked like something else (a tree), and that one of his deadliest foes could be killed by a natural substance that luckily could be found on Earth (water). So nothing like "Attack of the Cybermen" then...
In his teenage years, DW played less of a part, although a couple of scenes in "Planet of Fire" were of interest. Eventually he got his first job, working for the BBC videotape library. Here he was able to borrow a number of classic Who stories, and walked past Tom Baker staring at a blank wall.
In 1997 he got to meet Tom Baker, having been asked by the aformentioned best friend to take the pictures whilst he interviewed him. Andy still considers it one of the best hours of his life, even though "TV Zone" didn't use the pictures. Their magazine is notably absent from this site.
Presently, Andy still involves himself with Doctor Who to a worrying degree. Apart from maintaining this website (with varying degrees of enthusiasm), he spends quite a lot of time thinking about Freema Agyman. One day he hopes to watch a Doctor Who DVD without the commentary and production notes.
He has also contributed voice-over work to Stuart Palmer's CGI recreations of "The Dalek Chronicles" (see the Linx), and will shortly be heard as robot-spy 2K in "Impasse" which has always been one of his ambitions strangely.

Andy is also mad-keen on Tony Hancock, Bob Dylan, Peter Cook, Richard Dawkins, Johnny Cash, Buffy TVS, Richard Feynman, M*A*S*H, the Psycho movies (even number 4), The Prisoner, Soap (the sitcom not the er..soap), all forms of cheese (apart from straws), Guinness, playing the guitar and Final Fantasy. And loads of other stuff.

He lives in Bournemouth and shares a flat with the Taran Wood Beast.
